Frequently Asked Questions
- Q. How do I become a member of
Brookhouse & Ubberley Forum?
Anyone over the age of 16 and a resident of the geographical area
served by the Forum is welcome to come along to our meetings and vote
on issues raised. Committee members are elected at the Annual General
Meeting or as required. Residents under 16 may attend but may not vote.
- Q. Are 'bin wagon' days?
Bin Wagon days are part of the 'Pride in Our
City' scheme run by Stoke-on-Trent City Council, in association with
the Dept of the Environment. They allow community groups such as
Brookhouse & Ubberley Forum to offer collection of household
waste that won't fit in the wheelie bins, free of charge. They are
always for a specific number of streets (or part thereof) who are
notified in advance by a leaflet drop, and are held on Saturday
mornings. Unfortunately, there is a limited number of such days
available as the scheme covers the entire city and any particular area
is lucky if it gets two per year. Any community group or residents'
association may apply to the scheme for their particular area (c. upto
500 properties). Items that can not be collected on bin wagon days
include fridges, freezers, batteries, asbestos, rubble, tyres and other
items identified by the bin wagon drivers.
